Leynivopn BandarÝkjahers: Efnavopn sem gera menn gay...

Seinni heimsstyrj÷ldin hefi enda ÷ru vÝsi ef Enola Gay hefi veri b˙in The Gay BombUndanfarna daga hafa bandarÝskir fj÷lmilar veri a flytja frÚttir af leynivopnaߊtlun BandarÝkjahers, en samkvŠmt ■essum frÚttum vinna eintˇmir apakettir og jˇlasveinar hjß vopna■rˇunardeild hersins. Fyrir ■rettßn ßrum sÝan (ekki fj÷rutÝu og ■remur - heldur ■rettan: 1994!) var herinn a leggjaáß rßin um a hanna "sprengju" sem myndi gera ˇvinahermenn samkynhneiga og kynˇa, svo herdeildir myndu leysast upp Ý einhverskonar GˇmorrÝskt kaos...

A Berkeley watchdog organization that tracks military spending said it uncovered a strange U.S. military proposal to create a hormone bomb that could purportedly turn enemy soldiers into homosexuals and make them more interested in sex than fighting.

Pentagon officials on Friday confirmed to CBS 5 that military leaders had considered, and then subsquently rejected, building the so-called "Gay Bomb." ...

As part of a military effort to develop non-lethal weapons, the proposal suggested, "One distasteful but completely non-lethal example would be strong aphrodisiacs, especially if the chemical also caused homosexual behavior."

Ůetta eráekki grÝn: Herinn Štlai a hanna "a gay bomb", sem vŠri "distasteful" en "completely non-lethal" vopn. N˙ veit Úg ekki alveg hvernig Úg ß a bregast vi ■essum frÚttum, og spurning hvernig Holsinger, sem Bush hefur tilnefnt sem landlŠkni bregist vi ■essu - ■vÝ Ý hans kokkabˇk er samkynhneig ekki bara "distasteful" heldur lÝka alveg stˇrhŠttuleg.

Til undirb˙ningsrannsˇkna ■urfti a fß 7.5 milljˇnir dala:á

The documents show the Air Force lab asked for $7.5 million to develop such a chemical weapon.

Hva ßtti a rannsaka? Kannski var ■etta elaborate cover til a fß herinn til a fjßrmagna "rannsˇknir" vÝsindamananna ea hßttsettra herforingjaáÝ nŠturkl˙bbum San Fransisco? Ůetta er auvita mj÷g einfalt mßl, og augljˇst hvernig ■etta undravopn ßtti a virka:

"The Ohio Air Force lab proposed that a bomb be developed that contained a chemical that would cause enemy soliders to become gay, and to have their units break down because all their soldiers became irresistably attractive to one another," Hammond said after reviwing the documents. The Pentagon told CBS 5 that the proposal was made by the Air Force in 1994. ...

"Hommunarsprengjan" er augljˇslega mj÷g einfalt vopn. Og mesta fura a snillingum vi vopnarannsˇknardeildir hersins hafi ekki dotti ■etta Ý hug fyrr en 1994. Kannski voru vÝsindamennirnir sem h÷fu veri a rannsaka Lifnipillur re-assigned til a finna upp ara vitleysu? Herinn ■vertekur ■ˇ fyrir a veri sÚ a hanna ÷nnur "hommunar" vopn:

Military officials insisted Friday to CBS 5 that they are not currently working on any such idea and that the past plan was abandoned.

Eftir a hafa lesi ■essa frÚtt ■arf maur a staldra vi Ý smß stund, og hugsa me sÚr: Ůa voru fullornir menn, Ý fastri vinnu, sennilega me hßskˇlagrßur og ÷rugglega ß hßum launum hjß skattgreiendum, sem fundu upp ß ■essu. ╔g myndi gefa miki fyrir a fß a sitja inni ß ■essum fundum!

Akk˙rat eins og bandarÝskir landlŠknar eiga a lÝta ˙t. En Holsinger er ekki bara lŠknir, ■vÝ hann hefur lÝka brennandi ßhuga ß samkynhneig.

Holsinger rekur lÝka kirkju sem boar fagnaarerindi afhommunar og hefur beitt sÚr fyrir ■vÝ a kynvillingum sÚ ekki hleypt Ý Me■odistakirkjuna. Og ■a er svosem ekkert um ■a a segja anna en a vi getum varla veri a amast vi ■vÝ a menn sÚu a boa hˇmˇfˇbÝskt ■vaur Ý sÝnum prÝvatkirkjum. Vandamßli er hins vegar a sem landlŠknir mun Holsinger vera Ý ast÷u til a ■r÷ngva forneskjulegum hugmyndum sÝnum upp ß alla ■jˇina.

Ůetta er enn mikilvŠgara Ý ljˇsi ■ess a Holsinger virist hafa mj÷g sÚrkennilegar hugmyndir um mannslÝkamann og kynlÝf. Fyrir einum og hßlfum ßratug sÝan skrifai Holsinger nefnilega einhverskonar rannsˇkn um samkynhneig fyrir Me■odistakirkjuna. R÷k Holsinger eru hreinasta snilld... Skv. ABC news:

Holsinger’s paper argued that male and female genitalia are complementary — so much so “that it has entered our vocabulary in the form of naming pipe fittings either the male fitting or the female fitting depending upon which one interlocks within the other.” Body parts used for gay sex are not complementary, he wrote. “When the complementarity [sic] of the sexes is breached, injuries and diseases may occur.”

Holsinger wrote that “[a]natomically the vagina is designed to receive the peniswhile the anus and rectum — which “contain no natural lubricating function” — are not. “The rectum is incapable of mechanical protection against abrasion and severe damage … can result if objects that are large, sharp or pointed are inserted into the rectum,” Holsinger wrote.

N˙ jŠja. Ůetta skrifar virtur lŠknir Ý skřrslu og finnst hann aldeilis hafa sanna mßl sitt. Niurstaa hans er a "anal eroticism," leii til slysa og jafnvel daua. SÚrstaklega ef "stˇrir og beittir" hlutir eru me Ý spilunum? Svo heldur hann ßfram, og reynir fyrir sÚr Ý skatˇlˇgÝu sem er fyrir nean viringu flestra sem hafa ˙tskrifast me barnaskˇlaprˇf:

The surgeon general nominee wrote that "even primitive cultures understand the nature of waste elimination, sexual intercourse and the birth of children. Indeed our own children appear to 'intuitively' understand these facts."

Whada? R÷kin eru semsagt: 1) KynfŠri karlmanna passa ekki saman, og 2) Afturendinn er til ■ess a losa ˙rgang en ekki til "erˇtÝskra athafna"? ╔g ß erfitt me a skilja hvernig menntaur fullorinn maur getur lßti sÚr detta Ý hug a ■etta sÚu einhverskonar "r÷k". En Holsinger og talsmenn heilbrigisrßuneytisins eru hreint ekki s÷mu skounar. Holly Babin, talsmaur rßuneytisins heldur ■vÝ fram a ■essi merkilega skřrsla Holsinger sÚ merkileg vÝsindaleg grein:

"That paper was a survey of scientific peer-reviewed studies that he was asked to compile by the United Methodist Church, it's not that he was saying 'this is what I believe,'" Babin said. "It's a reflection of the available scientific data from the 1980s."

╔g held a ■a sÚ nŠr a segja a ■essar skoanir samrŠmist nÝunda ßratug nÝtjßndu aldar en nÝunda ßratug ■eirrar tuttugustu. Alv÷ru lŠknar sem hafa liti ß "skřrslu" Holsinger hafa enda varla ßtt or til a lřsa undrun sinni.

Professor Eli Coleman, Director of the Program in Human Sexuality at the University of Minnesota Medical School said that the paper seems to have a pre-1970s view of human sexuality. "I an't imagine that any scientific journal would be able to publish this material because of its very narrow views of homosexuality," he said.

In fact, if one of his students handed the paper in, Coleman would give it a failing grade, he said. ... "It's a totally faulty paper. The man doesn't know anything about human sexuality," said June M. Reinisch, Ph.D., director emeritus of the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender & Reproduction. "There's clearly a political agenda in this paper. This is not a scientific paper."

Paragraph by paragraph, Reinisch said Holsinger presents faulty arguments. Many homosexuals do not engage in the sexual act he criticizes; 40 percent of heterosexuals do"... Reinisch, who was director of the Kinsey Institute when Holsinger wrote this paper, said that if Holsinger "is going to come up with this position in 2007 I think I can clearly say that he is not qualified to be surgeon general."

Vandamßli er a ef menn geta kalla sig "dr" geta ■eir ljß greinum eins og ■essariá"vÝsindalegt" yfirbrag, og ■a er alltaf nˇg af einfeldningum sem nŠgir ekki a dylja fordˇma sÝna Ý tr˙arrugli, heldur ■urfa lÝka a fela ■ß ß bak vi "vÝsindi".

M

Update: Ůa lÝtur fyrir a Holsinger sÚ eina frÚttin Ý blogospherinu hÚr Ý AmerÝku, ■vÝ Úg get ekki betur sÚ en allir liberal bloggarar sÚu b˙nir a skrifa um hann Ý dag. Sem er svosem ekkert skrřti ■vÝ undanfarnir dagar eru b˙nir a vera frekar lÝti spennandi. FBI er enn■ß a rannsaka Ted "Bridge to nowhere" Stevens, frambjˇendur rep˙blÝkana ßttust vi Ý kapprŠum og kepptust um a lřsa frati Ý Bush, j˙, og svo mallar saksˇknarahreinsunarskandallin (sem hÚan Ý frß heitir "Gonzalesgate")áßfram. Ekkert af ■essu neitt sÚrstaklega krassandi. ┴ stundum eins og ■essari vantar okkur einhvern eins og Rick Santorum, einhvern sem vi getumátreyst ß a gefi ˙t jˇlasveinalegar yfirlřsingar minnst vikulega!

Bush tilnefnir landlŠkni sem tr˙ir ß afhommun

Dr James HolsingerBush hefur tilkynnt um tilnefningu sÝna ß nŠsta landlŠkni BandarÝkjanna - og fyrir valinu var maur a nafni Joseph Holsinger. SamvŠmtátilkynningu HvÝta H˙ssinsáer Holsingerá

an accomplished physician who has led one of our Nation's largest healthcare systems, the State of Kentucky's healthcare system, and the University of Kentucky's medical center.

Hlutverk landlŠknisinsáer fyrst og fremst a leia umrŠu um heilbrigismßl, sÚrstaklega forvarnir, og vera nokkurskonar opinber fulltr˙i lŠknastÚttarinnar.

As America's chief health educator, he will be charged with providing the best scientific information available on how Americans can make smart choices that improve their health and reduce their risk of illness and injury.

Ůetta er allt gott og blessaá- nema a ■essi Holsinger hefur veri harlega gagnrřndur fyrir a hafa beitt sÚr opinberlega gegn samkynhneigu fˇlki, og fyrir a reka kirkju (maurinn er nefnilega ekki bara lŠknir, heldur lÝka biblÝu-entrepreneur) sem boar afhommun. (Skv. Kentucky Lexington Herald-Leader):

[Holsinger] founded Hope Springs Community Church in a warehouse at 1109 Versailles Road. Calhoun called it a socially diverse congregation with a "very vital recovery ministry." It serves the homeless and those with addictions to drugs, alcohol and sex; and it has a Spanish-language Hispanic congregation with its own pastor. á[...]

Hope Springs also ministers to people who no longer wish to be gay or lesbian, Calhoun said.

"We see that as an issue not of orientation but of lifestyle," he said. "We have people who seek to walk out of that lifestyle."

N˙ er ■a auvita einkamßl hvers og eins hverju hann tr˙ir - og ef menn vilja tr˙a ■vÝ a gu hafi banna samkynhneig er ■a ■eirra einkamßl. Ůetta sama fˇlk mß svo ika sinn frjßlsa vilja og fara eftir ■essari tr˙ sinni. Ůa hefur hins vegar aldrei veri sřnt fram ß (vÝsindalega) 1) a samkynhneig sÚ skaleg, ■eim sem stunda hana ea ■eim sem ungangast ■ß, og 2) a ■a sÚ hŠgt a "lŠkna" hana. Auvita eru til lŠknar, eins og anna fˇlk, sem er haldi hˇmˇfˇbÝu ea telur a gu hafi banna samkynhneig, og Holsinger virist falla Ý ■ennan flokk.

Ůa er ■vÝ elilegt a liberal bloggarar og barßttufˇlk fyrir rÚttindum samkynhneigra sÚ fullt efasemda um ßgŠti ■essarar tilnefningar.

"Dr. James Holsinger has demonstrated in the past that he harbors religious-based prejudice towards homosexuals," said Jamie McDaniel, coordinator of Soulforce Lexington, the local chapter of a national organization that opposes the use of religion to oppress lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. "As a gay American, I am deeply concerned over any surgeon general nominee not being healed of such personal prejudice."

"We can only hope that ... Dr. Holsinger would rely on scientific data and not church doctrine," Joel Ginsberg, executive director of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, said in a statement. "The Senate should take a hard look to make sure he isn't another in a long line of ideologically driven Bush administration nominees."

Ůa er reyndar merkilegt a Bush skuli reyna a tilnefna Holsinger, Ý ljˇsi ■ess hversu umdeildur hann getur ori, ■vÝ Holsinger ■arf sam■ykki ÷ldungadeildarinnar til a hljˇta tilnefningu, og ßur en hann fer fyrir ÷ldungadeildina mun hann ■urfa a mŠta fyrir heilbrigismßlanefndina:

A date has not been announced for confirmation hearings for Holsinger's appointment. He will go before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, chaired by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass. Three Democrats on the committee are presidential candidates: Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, a graduate of the University of Louisville law school. The GOP members include Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah. Kentucky's senators, Republicans Mitch McConnell and Jim Bunning, are not on the committee.

Holsinger ■arf ■vÝ a svara spurningum Hillary Clinton OG Barack Obama - sem eru bŠi a sŠkjast eftir tilnefningu demokrataflokksins. (Og Chris Dodd, en hann telst varla me). Ůa er ˙tiloka a Clinton ea Obama geti hleypt Holsinger Ý gegn, ■.e. eftir a grasrˇtarsamt÷k Demokrata hafa mˇbÝlÝsera sitt fˇlk - og ef anna hvort Obama ea Clinton standa sig ekki Ý a grilla Holsinger er fyrisÚ a "the net-roots" veri trÝtÝlˇtt. Og ■a er jafn ˇlÝklegt a Holsinger geti fengi sam■ykki allrar ÷ldungadeildarinnar.

Eina skřringin ß ■vÝ a Bush sÚ a tilnefna Holsinger er ■vÝ a hann vilji hleypa upp hasar Ý kringum hommaˇgnina sem er eitt helsta ßhugamßl "the base", ■.e. "socially conservative" rep˙blÝkana. Og ekki veitir af, ef marka mß frÚttir af gremju Ýhaldssamra flokksmanna yfir stefnumßlum forsetans.

Pyntingar bandarÝkjahers og CIA ‘Outmoded, amateurish and unreliable’ skv. sÚrfrŠingum

Pyntingar hafa veri miki Ý umrŠunni Ý BandarÝkjunum. Pyntingar og Ýll mefer ß f÷ngum virist t.d. hafa ori eitt mikilvŠgasta prinsippmßl rep˙blÝkanaflokksins. ═ kapprŠum forsetaframbjˇenda flokksins fyrir tveimur vikum kepptust frambjˇendurnir nefnilega vi a yfirbjˇa hvorn annan ■egar ■eir voru spurir hva ■eir myndu vera tilb˙nir a ganga langt Ý a kreista upplřsingar ˙t ˙r grunuum hryjuverkam÷nnum. Mitt Romney baust t.d. til a tv÷falda tv÷falda Guantanamo. Eftirfarandi upptaka af kapprŠunum segir sennilega allt sem segja ■arf:

Hva ■a er sem veldur ■essari pyntingaßst flokksins er mÚr eiginlega hulin rßgßta, og segir lÝklega meira um andlegt ßstand "the base", ■.e. h÷rustu stuningsmanna flokksins, kjˇsenda sem rßa ■vÝ hverjir sigra prˇfkj÷r. Ůetta pyntingarugl er eitt mikilvŠgasta framlag Bush stjˇrnarinnar til pˇlÝtÝskrar umrŠu Ý BandarÝkjunum, ■vÝ stjˇrnin hefur gengi fram fyrir skj÷ldu Ý barßttunni fyrir ■vÝ a pyntingar veri viurkenndar sem hluti af "elilegum" vinnubr÷gum hersins og leyni■jˇnustunnar - og Fox news og arir melimir blaurmaskÝnunnar hafa svo gripi fßnann ß lofti og tala fjßlglega um Jack Bauer, og sjˇnvarpsserÝuna 24, sannfŠrir um a ■a sÚ ekki hŠgt a sigra "strÝi gegn hryjuverkum" nema BandarÝkjamenn leggist enn lŠgra en Al-Qaeda.

Ůa sem gerir ■etta pyntingamßl fßrßnlegra er a sÝan frÚttir af Abu Ghraib bßrust fyrst, og jafnvel enn fyrr, hafa yfirheyrslusÚrfrŠingar vara vi ■vÝ opinberlega a pyntingar sÚu nßnast gangslausar! New York Times flutti svo Ý gŠr frÚtt af nřrri skřrslu sem samin var fyrir stjˇrnina af ÷llum helstu sÚrfrŠingum Ý yfirheyrslum:

As the Bush administration completes secret new rules governing interrogations, a group of experts advising the intelligence agencies are arguing that the harsh techniques used since the 2001 terrorist attacks are outmoded, amateurish and unreliable.

The psychologists and other specialists, commissioned by the Intelligence Science Board, make the case that more than five years after the Sept. 11 attacks, the Bush administration has yet to create an elite corps of interrogators trained to glean secrets from terrorism suspects.

Frekar en a ■jßlfa menn Ý a yfirheyra fanga, t.d. me ■vÝ a halda Ý og rßa menn sem kunna arabÝsku, ea leita a yfirheyrsluaferum sem raunverulea virka, hefur stjˇrnin barist fyrir ■vÝ a rřmka lagaheimildir fyrir pyntingum:

Robert F. Coulam, a research professor and attorney at Simmons College and a study participant, said that the government’s most vigorous work on interrogation to date has been in seeking legal justifications for harsh tactics. Even today, he said, “there’s nothing like the mobilization of effort and political energy that was put into relaxing the rules” governing interrogation.

Skřrsluh÷fundar benda ß a Ýáseinni heimsstyrj÷ldinni hafi BandarÝkjaheráhaft mun ßrŠanlegri yfirheyrsluaferir, sem hafi ekki byggst ß ofbeldi og villimennsku:

...some of the experts involved in the interrogation review, called “Educing Information,” say that during World War II, German and Japanese prisoners were effectively questioned without coercion.

It far outclassed what we’ve done,” said Steven M. Kleinman, a former Air Force interrogator and trainer, who has studied the World War II program of interrogating Germans. The questioners at Fort Hunt, Va., “had graduate degrees in law and philosophy, spoke the language flawlessly,” and prepared for four to six hours for each hour of questioning, said Mr. Kleinman, who wrote two chapters for the December report.

Mr. Kleinman, who worked as an interrogator in Iraq in 2003, called the post-Sept. 11 efforts “amateurish” by comparison to the World War II program, with inexperienced interrogators who worked through interpreters and had little familiarity with the prisoners’ culture.

En svoleiis skipulag, undirb˙ning og fagmennska h÷far ekki til drulluhßleista sem halda a ofbeldi og tuddaskapur sÚu til marks um karlmennsku, smßdrengja sem eru b˙nir a horfa of miki ß sjˇnvarp og langar til a sparka Ý anna fˇlk.

President Bush has insisted that those secret “enhanced” techniques are crucial, and he is far from alone. The notion that turning up pressure and pain on a prisoner will produce valuable intelligence is a staple of popular culture from the television series “24” to the recent Republican presidential debate, where some candidates tried to outdo one another in vowing to get tough on captured terrorists.

Update: Úg fann lengra myndskei af ■essari pyntingarumrŠu - ■a er mun betra en fyrra myndskeii, ■vÝ ■eir fara ekki almennilega ß flug fyrr en svolÝti er lii ß sv÷rin!

Bestu partarnir eru Romney, c.a. 3:20 markinu, ■egar hann talar um a ■a ■urfi a tv÷falda Guantano, ■vÝ Guantanamo sÚ frßbŠrt vegna ■ess a ■ar hafi hryjuverkamennirnir ekki agang a l÷gfrŠingum...

Wolfowitz: If they f*ck with me or Shaha I will f*uck with them!

Wofowitz og kŠrastan, RizaOrrÚtt ß Wolfowitz a hafa sagt: "If they fuck with me or Shaha, I have enough on them to fuck them too." Ůetta eru auvita fleyg or og skßldleg... Skv. The Guardian

The remarks were published in a report detailing the controversy that erupted last month after the size of Ms Riza's pay rises was revealed. The report slates Mr Wolfowitz for his "questionable judgment and a preoccupation with self-interest", saying: "Mr Wolfowitz saw himself as the outsider to whom the established rules and standards did not apply." ...

The angry comments attributed to Mr Wolfowitz came from damning testimony by Xavier Coll, head of human resources at the bank, who provided investigators with his notes of a meeting with Mr Wolfowitz last year. The notes directly contradict Mr Wolfowitz's assertions that the details of Ms Riza's treatment were properly shared with senior bank officials.

According to Mr Coll's notes: "At the end of the conversation Mr Wolfowitz became increasingly agitated and said that he was 'tired of people ... attacking him' and 'you should get your friends to stop it'. Mr Wolfowitz said, 'If they fuck me or Shaha, I have enough on them to fuck them too'," naming several senior bank staff he felt were vulnerable.

Wolfowitz er auvita ergilegur yfir ■vÝ a einhverjir "stjˇrnarmenn" og "hluthafar" sÚu a vasast Ý ■vÝ hvernig hann rekur ■ennan einkabanka sinn: Hann fÚkk bankann a lÚni frß keisaranum sjßlfum, og allir undirsßtarnir og bj˙rˇkratarnir sem ■ar sitja og fletta Ý pappÝr eiga a hafa sig hŠga ■egar alv÷ru stˇrmenni fara sÝnu fram!

Stjˇrn bankans telur hins vegar a Wolfowitz hafi me framferi sÝnu og stjˇrnunarstÝl stˇrskaa bankann:

According to the report, Mr Wolfowitz's actions "had a dramatic negative effect on the reputation and credibility" of the bank.

It concluded that "the damage done to the reputation of the World Bank group" should lead the bank's board to "consider whether Mr Wolfowitz will be able to provide the leadership needed to ensure that the bank continues to operate to the fullest extent possible".

Ůa hefur reyndar veri stˇrskemmtilegt a fylgjast me sauslega sokkb÷linum undanfarna daga, sÚrstaklega vegna ■ess a v÷rn Wolfowitz hefur veri stˇrfuruleg. Ef eitthva er a marka frßs÷gn Washington Post af v÷rn Wolfowitz virist sem hann haldi ■vÝ fram a kŠrastan sem styrinn stendur um, sÚ ■vÝlÝkt skass og norn a hvorki hann, nÚ stjˇrn bankans, hafi ■ora a dÝla vi hana: Hann hafi neyst til a veita henni launahŠkkun ■vÝ annars...

"Its members did not want to deal with a very angry Ms. Riza, whose career was being damaged as a result of their decision," Wolfowitz said in his response to the investigating committee's report. "It would only be human nature for them to want to steer clear of her."

Semsagt: KŠrasta Wolfowitz er ■vÝlÝkt kvendi a ■a er ekki hŠgt a Štlast til ■ess a venjulegir menn legu Ý a vera nßlŠgt henni? Reyndar efast Úg um a ■a sÚ miki "action" hjß Wolfowitz ■essa dagana, ■vÝ hann gengur svo langt a kenna henni um allt dj÷fuls fjarafoki!

Wolfowitz effectively blamed Riza for his predicament as well, saying that her "intractable position" in demanding a salary increase as compensation for her career disruption forced him to grant one to pre-empt a lawsuit. He is scheduled to appear before the board this afternoon. The board is expected to begin deliberating on how to respond as soon as tonight. Board members are inclined to issue a resolution expressing a lack of confidence in Wolfowitz's leadership, senior bank officials said. ...

"Everyone acknowledges that Ms. Riza was extremely angry and upset about being required to take an external placement to resolve a problem that was not of her making," Wolfowitz wrote, portraying the raise as a "settlement of claims."

Ůetta er einhver aumingjalegasta v÷rnin sem Wolfowitz hefi geta fundi upp! Vi eigum semsagt a hafa sam˙ me honum vegna ■ess a Shaha er svo miki skass?

HvÝta H˙si virist reyndar lÝka eitthva vera a missa tr˙na ß a ■a sÚ hŠgt a verja Wolfowitz.

A senior White House official tells ABC News that "all options are on the table" regarding Paul Wolfowitz's future and that "it is an open question" whether he should should remain as president of the World Bank.

"If you don't have board support and you don't have staff support, it is hard to get anything done," the official told ABC News.á ... the senior official told ABC News "it is an open question" whether Wolfowitz can remain an effective president of the World Bank.

Ůßttastjˇrnendur ß kapalsjˇnvarpsst÷vunum voru a vonum kßtir, ■vÝ ■a er ekkert skemmtilegra en kynlÝfsskandalar, og bloggarar voru ekki sÝur spenntir, ■vÝ ABC lÚt Ý veri vaka a ■a vŠri fullt af allskonar hßttsettum skriffinnum og melimum rÝkisstjˇrnarinnar ß ■essum lista.

Liberal bloggarar voru a vonum f˙lir, ■vÝ ■a fˇru af sta allskonar furulegar og stˇrfyndnarátengingar ß milli Washington og hˇrerÝislistans.

En maur Štti aldrei a segja aldrei, ■vÝ n˙ er farinn af sta einhver m÷gnu samsŠriskenning/getgßta um hver sÚ ß listanum og af hverju ABC hafi allt Ý einu misst ßhuga ß a flytja ŠsifrÚttir af kynlÝfi Ý Washington DC: Dick Cheney "vara"forseti BandarÝkjanna ß a hafa veri meal viskiftavina "nuddjˇnustunnar"!

SamkvŠmt frÚttum og s÷gus÷gnum ß minnst einn frŠgur "fyrrverandi forstjˇri" a vera ß listanum, og n˙ telja sumir a sß fyrrverandi forstjˇri sÚ fyrrum forstjˇri Haliburton - maur a nafni Richard Bruce Cheney, kallaur "Dick". Lřsingar ß ■essum fyrrverandi forstjˇra, heimili hans osfv. ■ykja allar benda ß Cheney. Cheney ß svo a hafa hˇta ABC ÷llu Ýllu ef ■eir hŠttu ekki vi a flytja frÚttir af viskiftavinum nudd■jˇnustunnar. Skv Wayne Madsen (■a ■arf a fletta niur ß blasÝunni, ■essi fŠrsla er undir 8. maÝ:

WMR has confirmed with extremely knowledgeable CIA and Pentagon sources that the former CEO who is on Deborah Jeane Palfrey's list is Vice President Dick Cheney.Cheney was CEO of Halliburton during the time of his liaisons with the Pamela Martin & Associates escort firm. Palfrey's phone invoices extend back to 1996 and include calls to and from Cheney.Ironically, in 2000 Cheney was appointed by Bush to head his Vice President selection committee, a task that enabled Cheney to gather detailed personal files on a number of potential candidates, including Bill Frist, George Pataki, John Danforth, Fred Thompson, Chuck Hagel, John Kasich, Chris Cox, Frank Keating, Tom Ridge, Colin Powell, and Jim Gilmore, before he selected himself as the vice presidential candidate.

The White House saw to it that ABC/Disney killed the DC Madam's storybefore yet another scandal swamped the Bush administration.

Ůetta er auvita stˇrskemmtilegur orrˇmur! Wonkette, sem sÚrhŠfir sig Ý stjˇrnmßlasl˙ri Washington finnst ■ˇ lÝti til alls ■essa koma:

Do you know why we’re underwhelmed by this rumor? Because even if it’s a fact, which it probably is, there’s no way it would have any impact on Cheney’s “career.” This is a draft-dodging half-human war criminal with a pregnant lesbian daughter who tells senators to fuck themselves and shoots his own friends in the face. Ordering an outcall hooker is positively innocent compared to the well-known things Cheney does every day.

Smß hˇrerÝ vŠri sennilega ˇmerkilegasti glŠpur ea yfirsjˇn Dick Cheney.

Einn af skirlÝfistalsm÷nnum stjˇrnarinnar segir af sÚr - eftir a upp kemst a hann var fastak˙nni "nudd■jˇnustu"

Randall TobiasRandall L. Tobias var yfirmaur allrar ■rˇunarastoar BandarÝkjanna, og sÚrlegur sendiherra Ý alnŠmismßlum, ■.e. ■ar til a hann sagi af sÚr Ý dag. ┴stŠan ku vera, samkvŠmt Reuters og ABC frÚttastofunni, a hann hafi veri fastak˙nni ß hˇruh˙si Ý Washington:

Randall L. Tobias submitted his resignation Friday, one day after confirming to ABC News that he had been a customer of a Washington, D.C. escort service whose owner has been charged by federal prosecutors with running a prostitution operation.

Tobias, eins og sjˇnvarpspredÝkarinn Ted Haggard, sem einnig notfŠri sÚr svipaa ■jˇnustu (reyndar mannaa karlm÷nnum), heldur ■vÝ reyndar fram a ■etta hafi allt veri afskaplega saklaust. Enda er maurinn giftur! Semsagt, hann var alltaf svo stirur eftir a hafa veri a berjast vi fßtŠkt og alnŠmi allan daginn, a hann ■urfti a fß "nudd":

On Thursday, Tobias told ABC News he had several times called the "Pamela Martin and Associates" escort service "to have gals come over to the condo to give me a massage."á áTobias, who is married, said there had been "no sex," and that recently he had been using another service "with Central Americans" to provide massages

Sko! Og ■ˇ viáviljum ekki tr˙a fyrri hluta ■essarar lygas÷guáhljˇtum vi a vera sammßlaáa hann hafi einhvernveginn gerst sekur um smßvŠgilegri glŠpi ■egar hann fˇr a fß "nudd" frß mi-amerÝskum konum?

Afs÷gn Tobias er auvita ekki neitt reiarslag fyrir rÝkisstjˇrnina, og Úg er satt best a segja ekki viss um a h˙n komist ß forsÝur blaanna - ■a fer ■ˇ eftir ■vi hversu miki verur af ÷rum frÚttum. En ■etta mßl inniheldur samt ÷ll mikilvŠgustu einkenni almennilegs kynlÝfsskandals. Tobias var nefnilega, sem AIDS-Ambassador Bush,á÷tull talsmaur skirlÝfis, og beitti sÚr meal annars gegn ■vÝ a notkun smokka vŠri liur Ý barßttunni gegn alnŠmi. ┴ur en hann fˇr Ý einhverskonar skirlÝfist˙r um AfrÝkuáßri 2004 sagi hann:

The message to young people in the schools is not either ‘Be abstinent or here are condoms, take your pick.’ It is a message of ‘Be abstinent.’ Delaying sexual activity is a means of eliminating the risk of infection.

Time, sem fjallai Ý gŠr um brÚfi og mikilvŠgi ■ess:

In what could prove an embarrassing new setback for embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on the eve of his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, a group of influential conservatives and longtime Bush supporters has written a letter to the White House to call for his resignation.

BrÚfritarar telja upp marga glŠpiáGonzales:á

"Mr. Gonzales has presided over an unprecedented crippling of the Constitution's time-honored checks and balances," it declares. "He has brought rule of law into disrepute, and debased honesty as the coin of the realm." Alluding to ongoing scandal, it notes: "He has engendered the suspicion that partisan politics trumps evenhanded law enforcement in the Department of Justice."

A ■eirra viti gerir ■etta allt a verkum a Gonzaleságeti ekki seti sem "the chief law enforcement officer" - n˙, vegna ■ess a hann hefur grafi undan trausti almennings ß l÷gunum, l÷ggŠsluyfirv÷ldum, og stjˇrnv÷ldum almennt.

The letter concludes by saying, "Attorney General Gonzales has proven an unsuitable steward of the law and should resign for the good of the country... The President should accept the resignation, and set a standard to which the wise and honest might repair in nominating a successor..."

Og brÚfritararáeru allir bona-fide Ýhaldsmenn og harir rep˙blÝkanar:

It is the first public demand by a group of conservatives for Gonzales' firing. Signatories to the letter include Bruce Fein, a former senior official in the Reagan Justice Department, who has worked frequently with current Administration and the Republican National Committee to promote Bush's court nominees; David Keene, chairman of the influential American Conservative Union, one of the nation's oldest and largest grassroots conservative groups; Richard Viguerie, a well-known G.O.P. direct mail expert and fundraiser; and Bob Barr, the former Republican Congressman from Georgia and free speech advocate, as well as John Whitehead, head of the Rutherford Institute, a conservative non-profit active in fighting for what it calls religious freedoms.

Fein, speaking for the signatories, told TIME that Gonzales' planned testimony to Congress tomorrow, the text of which has been released by the Justice Department, was a "terrible disappointment" that left unanswered key questions on which his job may now depend. "Gonzales' testimony before the Judiciary Committee resorts to a truly Clintonesque defense of his own previous false statements," says Fein. "In fact," he says, "Gonzales' latest declarations really do call into question the forthrightness and honesty indispensable for America's chief law enforcement officer."

═ kosningunum 2000 hÚlt Bush ■vÝ fram a hann Štlai a "restore dignity to the White House".áMargir, sÚrstaklega Ý r÷um Ýhaldsmanna,átr˙u ■essu lofori hans. ŮvÝ verur ekki neita a margir BandarÝkjamenn h÷fu ß tilfinningunni a Clinton hefi einhvernveginn "brought shame on the White House" me aulalegum framhjßhaldstilburum og "ClintˇnÝskum" ˙t˙rsn˙ningum. ١ Úg sÚ persˇnulega ■eirrar skounar a glŠpir hans og afsakanir sÚu varla stˇrmßl - Ý ■a minnsta ekki efni Ý ■ingrannsˇknir ß kostna skattgreienda - Štla Úg ekki a gera lÝti ˙r siferislegu sjokki margra BandarÝkjamanna. (Ůa a leitogar Rep˙blÝkana Ý ■eirri siferiskrossfer hafi sjßlfir veri ˇmerkilegir hrŠsnarar er allt anna mßl).

Bush hefur hins vegar tekist a ganga mun lengra Ý a rřja HvÝta H˙si trausti, viringu og tiltr˙ ■jˇarinnar. Ůegar Ýhaldsmenn eru farnir a lřsa mßlatilb˙nai rßherra Bush sem "Clintonesque" er ljˇst a stjˇrnin hefur sokki heldur dj˙pt.

SkirlÝfiskennsla hefur engin ßhrif ß hvort unglingar stundi kynlÝf

Abstinence is for virgins"Abstinence education" hefur veri Ý miklu uppßhaldi hjß sumum rep˙blÝk÷num og "kristnum" BandarÝkjam÷nnum. Forsetinn hefur veri ÷tull talsmaur skirlÝfiskennslu, enda bendir hann ß a ÷ruggasta leiin til ■ess a forast ■unganir og kynsj˙kdˇma sÚ a stunda ekkert kynlÝf. Ůetta er auvita lˇgÝk sem engin lei er a deila vi. SkirlÝfi hentar lÝka vel hugmyndafrŠi "tr˙as" fˇlks sem er sannfŠrt um a allt kynlÝf sÚ einhvernveginn mj÷g ˇgefellt, nema ■egar ■a er stunda innan hjˇnabands til ■ess a b˙a til b÷rn. SamkvŠmt s÷mu hugmyndafrŠi er kennsla Ý kynfrŠslu sem kennir unglingum um notkun getnaarvarna einhverskonar "kynlÝfsßrˇur". N˙, vegna ■ess a unglingar eru mun lÝklegri til a stunda kynlÝf ef ■eir kunna a passa sig ß kynsj˙kdˇmum ea ■ungunum?

SkirlÝfisfrŠsla hefur enda hloti 176 milljˇn dollara ßrlega ß fjßrl÷gum frß Bush stjˇrninni. Ůess hefur lÝka krafist ■ess a skˇlar sem fß peninga frß alrÝkisstjˇrninni til a kenna kynfrŠslu megi bara kenni b÷rnum og unglingum skirlÝfi. Ůa er ■vÝ elilegt a fˇlk spyrji hvort ■essi skirlÝfisßrˇur virki.

Washington Post birtir Ý morgun frÚtt um niurst÷ur stŠrstu k÷nnunar sem ger hefur veri ß skirlÝfiskennslu, og niurstaan sřnir a skirlÝfiskennsla hefur akk˙rat engin ßhrif ß hvort unglingar stundi kynlÝf. Sem kemur svosem ekki ß ˇvart.

A long-awaited national study has concluded that abstinence-only sex education, a cornerstone of the Bush administration's social agenda, does not keep teenagers from having sex. Neither does it increase or decrease the likelihood that if they do have sex, they will use a condom.

═ stuttu mßli er stunda unglingar sem fß "abstinence only" kennslu nßkvŠmlega jafn miki kynlÝf og unglingar sem ekki fß slÝka kennslu.

"There's not a lot of good news here for people who pin their hopes on abstinence-only education," said Sarah Brown, executive director of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, a privately funded organization that monitors sex education programs. "This is the first study with a solid, experimental design, the first with adequate numbers and long-term follow-up, the first to measure behavior and not just intent. On every measure, the effectiveness of the programs was flat."

Stjˇrnin hefur samt engan hug ß a hŠtta a fjßrmagna ßrˇur sem hefur nßkvŠmlega ekkert gildi:

Harry Wilson, a top official in the Department of Health and Human Services, said yesterday that the administration has no intention of changing funding priorities in light of the results.

A vÝsu hafa stuningsmenn skirlÝfiskennslu hafa haldi ■vÝ fram a ■essi kennsla hafi ßhrif ß vihorf unglinga til kynlÝfs, ■eim sem sÚ kennt a stunda ekki kynlÝf stundi minna kynlÝf, ■ˇ ■eir hugsanlega byrji ß sama tÝma og arir, og a lokum, a skirlÝfiskennsla 'bŠti siferiskennd ■eirra". Ůa mß ßbyggilega veita hundruum milljˇna ßrlega Ý a "bŠta siferiskennd" unglinga me eitthva effektÝvari hŠtti en a reyna a fß ■ß til a ignorera elilegan hormˇnab˙skap sinn og innrŠta ■eim kristilegan siferisboskap aftan ˙r mi÷ldum.

En lßtum vera a rÝkisstjˇrnin verji hundruum milljˇna til ■ess a fjßrmagna prˇgramm sem hefur engin ßhrif. Ůa eru hinsvegar vÝsbendingar um a skirlÝfiskennsla stjˇrnarinnar sÚ beinlÝnis skaleg. Athugun bandarÝkja■ings frß 2004 ß kennsluefni Ý 13 mest notuu nßmskeiunum sřndi a kennsluefni var mj÷g misjafnt a gŠum:

The report concluded that two of the curricula were accurate but the 11 others, used by 69 organizations in 25 states, contain unproved claims, subjective conclusions or outright falsehoods regarding reproductive health, gender traits and when life begins.

Og hverskonar snilld er kennd Ý skirlÝfisprˇgr÷mmum ß kostna skattgreienda? Grein Washington Post nefndi eftirfarandi gullkorn:

  • A 43-day-old fetus is a "thinking person."
  • HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, can be spread via sweat and tears.
  • Condoms fail to prevent HIV transmission as often as 31 percent of the time in heterosexual intercourse.

SamkvŠmt t÷lum bandarÝska heilbrigisrßuneytisins eru smokkar ÷ruggir Ý 97% tilfella, ■a eru engar t÷lur til um hlutfall samkynhneigra unglinga me alnŠmi - enda ekki vita hversu margir unglingar eru samkynhneigir, og ■ˇ menn geti haft ˇlÝkar skoanir ß ßgŠti fˇstureyinga, og sumir vilji tala um fˇstur sem "tilvonandi mannverur"áheld Úg a ■a sÚ leitun a fˇlki sem tr˙ir ■vÝ a hŠgt sÚ a vÝsa til 43 daga fˇsturs sem "hugsandi mannveru".

Ef skirlÝfisprˇgr÷mm nŠu tilŠtluum ßrangri, og minnkuu kynlÝf meal unglinga, gŠti Úg skili a alrÝkisstjˇrnin og talsmenn fj÷lskyldugilda vildu halda ßfram a fjßrmagnun ■eirra, en Ý ljˇsi ■ess a ■au eru fullkomlega gagnslaus - og dreifa r÷ngum og skalegum upplřsingum - er ˇtr˙legt a stjˇrnin vilji halda ■eim ßfram. Carpetbagger report bloggi hafi ■etta a segja:

The fiasco is a microcosm of everything that’s wrong with the Bush administration’s approach to public policy — ignore facts, waste money, placate extremists, and hope no one notices. It would be hilarious if it weren’t so pathetic.

Newt Gingrich stˇ Ý framhjßhaldi mean hann var a ofsŠkja Clinton

Gingrich skilur a siprři er mikilvŠgur eiginleiki Ý ÷ru fˇlki...Newt Gingrich, sem var Ý fylkingarbrjˇsti rep˙blÝkana sem gßtu ekki ß sÚr heilum teki vegna ■ess hversu skelfilegt og hrŠilega ˇsisamlegt framferi Clinton hefi veri, hefur n˙ viurkennt a hafa sjßlfur stai Ý umfangsmiklu framhjßhaldi mean ß Clinton-Lewinsky krossferinni stˇ.

Ůetta vŠru ekki frÚttir nema vegna ■ess a Gingrich og rep˙blÝkanaflokkurinn hafa fram til ■essa ■ˇst vera sjßlfskipaur verir sigŠis og "fj÷lskyldugilda". Skv Boston Globe:

"There are times that I have fallen short of my own standards. There's certainly times when I've fallen short of God's standards." Gingrich argued in the interview, however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity.

Nei auvita ekki - ■vÝ eins og vi vitum geta eiga rep˙blÝkanar hugt÷kin sigŠi og heiarleiki... En Gingrich er ekki bara hrŠsnari, hann er lÝka skÝthŠll!

Gingrich, who frequently campaigned on family values issues, divorced his second wife, Marianne, in 2000 after his attorneys acknowledged Gingrich's relationship with his current wife, Callista Bisek, a former congressional aide more than 20 years younger than he is.

His first marriage, to his former high school geometry teacher, Jackie Battley, ended in divorce in 1981. Although Gingrich has said he doesn't remember it, Battley has said Gingrich discussed divorce terms with her while she was recuperating in the hospital from cancer surgery.

Gingrich married Marianne months after the divorce.

╔g held a ■a Štti aávera nokkuáljˇst hvor hefur hreinni skj÷ld,áClinton ea Gingrich - ená"Ýhaldssamir"áhŠgrimenn sem tr˙a ß "fj÷lskyldugildi" virast engu a sÝur enn tr˙a ■vÝ aásß sÝarnefndi sÚá"■eirra maur", ■vÝ Gingrich er vÝst a velta ■vÝ fyrir sÚr a bjˇa sig fram til forseta 2008, sem fulltr˙i "Ýhaldsmanna" Ý flokknum.
