Karl Rove að yfirgefa Bush?

Strom Thurmond.

And insiders report that Bush counsel Harriet Miers isn’t a fan, believing that Rove didn’t do enough to help her failed Supreme Court nomination among conservatives. In fact, one top West Wing advisor said that the unexpected ouster of Rove aide Susan Ralston over ethics questions was orchestrated by Miers as a signal to Rove to leave. The advisor said that Rove is aware of the situation and that a departure might come in “weeks, not months.” A Rove ally, however, noted that he has a record of out-witting his critics.

A source told InsightMag.com that the president was especially concerned that Rove might write a memoir about his White House experience. Unlike other reports on the White House under the current administration, a negative "tell-all" by Rove - President's Bush's closest political confidante - would be difficult to shrug off or deny.

The administration has been hit by a wave of defections, with more administration staffers reportedly planning to leave as Bush seeks some level of cooperation with the Democratic-led Congress. So far, Rove appears to be an exception, despite bearing the brunt of criticism for the Republicans' loss of power.
